Yesterday, I got an envelope in the mail and inside was a black T-shirt that read, “great blogs of fire.”
It was from Geoff Livingston, a blogger at Buzz Bin who has a monthly lineup of what he considers to be the 5 Best Blogs for that month.
I was fortunate to get that distinction last April, but little did I know that it would come with a cool t-shirt. As much as I try to stay detached from these things, I must admit that it was a fun to get something in the mail that was for me, given the crates of stuff that has come to my house of late for my newborn daughter. Better yet, it wasn't pink.
But more than that, it gave me an idea for a client. Why not run some sort of contest and send the winners a t-shirt? Would it inspire more participation? For instance, a YouTube contest with the winner getting bragging rights apparel (something cool to show off).
Or, just a recognition piece, like Geoff Livingston does at the Buzz Bin for thoughtful posts. It is a small token versus a big ticket item that makes people question the objectivity of the blogger afterwards. And better yet, it's fun!
Thanks for the T-shirt Geoff, but better yet, thanks for the idea.
Goodness gracious, great blogs of fire!
