This free service is easily accessed from Networked Nonprofit Co-Author Beth Kanter’s Facebook page, where almost 7,000 nonprofit leaders are already engaged in peer learning about nonprofits and social media.

The Zoetica Salon offers informal peer learning with just-in-time answers, and the ability to become more networked with smart people. Participants can hang out in the Salon, ask questions, and spend time in a safe place where they will learn industry best practices and community management principles. The Salon is designed as a place to reflect with peers while building knowledge that can be used immediately in doing their jobs better and build capacity in the area of digital media.

As part of the offering, Zoetica will provide a monthly theme, which will include resources, and ask questions around crowdsourcing, transparency, and other issues impacting the nonprofit sector. Community guides will include Beth Kanter, Kami Huyse, Julie Pippert and Geoff Livingston. For more formal learning, Zoetica recommends becoming a member of NTEN, the Nonprofit Technology Network and host of the annual Nonprofit Technology Conference.

“When I started working in the nonprofit technology capacity-building field as a circuit rider, my colleagues in the community freely shared their knowledge and insights with me and others. This peer support helped all of us collectively have more impact in the field. I’m thrilled to offer the considerable talent within Zoetica to scale this impact via Facebook, a universally accessible platform,” said Zoetica CEO Beth Kanter.

This initiative builds on similar peer learning initiatives that Beth Kanter has freely facilitated for the nonprofit technology community over the past 15 years. Recognized in 2007 as “Most Valuable Person in the Field” by NTEN, Kanter has designed and facilitated numerous free community sandboxes as well as large-scale peer learning projects such as NTEN’s “WeAreMedia.”
